The fabulous coastal aspect of this new build on the Kentish south coast inspired the architect to design the master bedroom window to frame the stunning sea views.
The offset triangle-shaped window is 3m wide and 4m tall at its largest points, with different ceiling angles. The owners challenged SHY’s Partner, WindowTreat to provide an elegant blind with no joins in the shading fabric; to design the workings so they could be hidden by a pelmet; and to ensure there was full control over the blind’s operation anywhere in the room.
SHY’s solution was to design and manufacture a one piece, lifting constant tension RollTop blind. Matching the owner’s colour requirements and with the system’s ability to be 4m wide, a single piece of 3m wide B3800 heavy duty, PVC blackout fabric was used to span the three panes of glass.
Bespoke mounting brackets were manufactured to match the different ceiling angles and ensure that the seven constant tension cords retain the blind’s shape and smooth operation. RollTop blinds use a flexible hem bar that rolls around the tube so that the fabric fully retracts despite their shape.
It is electrically operated with a Somfy radio-controlled motorso that it can be operated from anywhere in the room.
The result is a blind that perfectly complements the unique window shape and allows the owners full control over its operation to maximise their seaside view.
